Chief Executive Officer and CFO
Michael
Hines

Michael has a 40-year demonstrable track record of financial and business experience including Planning and Analysis, Auditing, Financial Modeling, Internal and External Financial Reporting, and complex Finance Management.

 

He is adept in negotiations, contract compliance, process improvement, and policy development and implementation. Hines held the position of CFO at Direct link Holding Group for 9 years where he assisted with 45 insurance agency acquisitions by serving as a member of 3-person Merger & Acquisition team performing analysis, planning and negotiations. Direct Link was acquired by Acrisure LLC in 2015. Prior career experience included Partner and Senior Vice-President at KPMG, responsible for such diverse projects as business restructuring & tax planning engagements, forensic engagements, viability assessments and expert witness engagements. Hines has also been a board advisor to a variety of companies including a tech start-up and a Canadian company which markets never before-seen film footage of some of the most famous musicians of our time.

Vice President of Sales, Personal Lines
Tony Prete

Tony has over 35 years of experience leading sales practices, independent agency distribution, and sales operations in the Property and Casualty insurance industry. He has worked with some of the nation’s largest insurance companies including Safeco, Travelers, The Hartford, and Kemper.

 

During the past 20 years Tony has served as a senior member of the executive team with Kemper, FedNat Insurance, and Atlantic Mutual Legal Defense Insurance. In 2020 he ventured into owning his own agency and just recently sold his operation before joining us as VP Sales–Personal Lines in December 2023. He is responsible for Sales Practices, Sales Operations, and organic revenue growth for Afore’s largest volume agency.

Vice President of Personal Lines
Shelley Canterbury

Shelley is a Florida native with over 20 years of experience in personal lines property and casualty insurance.  Shelley has significant experience in all facets of personal lines having been a successful account manager and branch team leader for a significant portion of her career.   

 

Shelley is consistently acknowledged as a leader by her peers and by Afore’s insurance carrier partners.  ​After a successful, multi-year stint as Branch Team Leader for Afore's largest volume personal lines agency, she joined the Senior Leadership Team as Vice President , Personal Lines in April, 2022 with responsibility for retaining current clients and organic growth of Afore’s personal lines portfolio.

Controller
Ryan 
Guilmette

Ryan Guilmette started at Afore Insurance Services as a Lead Bookkeeper. He pioneered the bookkeeping process, upgrading the company’s accounting technology and eventually leading to Ryan’s success as the company’s Controller. In addition to overseeing the accounting and financing division for the existing agency, Ryan on boards and trains newly acquired agencies and their staff on Afore technologies and the accounting processes. Ryan holds a BSc in Accounting from Central Connecticut State University.

Senior Operations and Agency Management Advisor
Paul
Harper

Paul has 30 years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry. He started his career as a successful producer moving to sales team leader then regional sales management.

 

For 18 years, he was part of the senior management team of Direct Link Holding Group initially as Vice President, Sales and Service then, for more than a decade, as Chief Operating Officer. During this time, he played a key role in taking the brokerage from start-up to a 7 location, multi-discipline insurance operation with locations in both the US and Canada. The brokerage was sold in 2015 to a large, private, US-based brokerage.

President, Personal Lines
Andrew Muller

Andrew is the past President and CEO of Mappus Insurance Agency, Inc. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, he has been active in the insurance industry since 2005. Throughout his career, Muller’s specialization focus has been in coastal home and flood insurance, with a particular focus on high-value coastal and historical properties.

 

Muller's educational background includes a B.S. in Business Administration from the College of Charleston and business coursework at the University of Louisville. He holds several professional designations, including Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Associated Advisor of Insurance(AAI), and Property Risk and Insurance Specialist (PRIS). He also holds a license as a claims adjuster in South Carolina and his insurance licenses span multiple states.

 

Significantly, Muller has been a part of the Board of Directors for the Independent Insurance Agents Association of South Carolina (IIABSC) from 2015 through 2020, and he has been recognized for his contributions to the industry. This includes being a recipient of the 2018 Class for 40 Under 40 for Charleston, the IIABSC Young Agents Committee Chairman in 2017 and 2018,and being featured in Rough Notes Magazine as Agency of the Month in May 2015. He also contributes to his community as a board member for the Charleston World Heritage Coalition  and as a Kentucky Colonel.

Stanley
Jablonowski

Stanley is an insurance industry executive with over 40 years of experience. He is the former Chief Operation Officer of Acrisure, the fastest growing national insurance brokerage firm in the United States, growing from 70 million in revenues to over 1 billion dollars in revenue over the course of three years.

 

He is the former President and CEO of Bank of America Agency and predecessor acquiring firms HILB and Willis. In addition, he is also the former Managing Director of Marsh & McLennen Companies, Morristown, NJ.

Operations Manager
Carla
McParland

Carla obtained her Insurance license in 2001 and has over 15 years management experience. She started as a property and casualty producer, implementing a successful partnership with the mortgage industry, and as Senior Vice President and Agent of Record, responsible for the operations and staffing of an Insurance Agency in California. As this agency was acquired and became a part of Afore Insurance Services LLC, she remained with the organization to oversee operational systems and facilitate mergers and acquisitions. Carla holds an AS degree in Computer and Information Management.
